This award means a lot to us not only because it required meeting stringent customer service requirements, but the winning factor, in the end, was our customer endorsements.

The service companies who entered had to identify 100 service customers, who were, then, sent surveys until at least 50 responses were collected. Award-winning companies needed to receive nearly perfect responses from surveyed customers. The fact that we walked away with a win in this contest is a testament to the dedication of our team and the loyalty of our customers.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to all the staff and customers who made this win possible. We’re eager to continue our tradition of exceptional pool and spa services so that you may experience the best at-home recreation and wellness practices possible. We are pleased to offer our assistance with chemicals, maintenance, and repairs even if you didn’t purchase your pool, hot tub, or swim spa from us.

Service You Can Trust

What To Expect

Even the most hands-on pool and spa owners need help with maintenance every now and then. Whether you need the occasional helping hand or a regular maintenance service, our team at A-1 Pools is here to help. Here’s what you can expect from our service department.

  • Our service staff is manufacturer-certified to service the types of pools, hot tubs, and swim spas found in our showroom. Each service team member regularly attends manufacturer training and is highly competent with most other brands on the market. The Pool & Hot Tub Association (PHTA) offers multiple levels of training and certification for retail, service, and installation staff, so staff can understand the specifics of each brand for accurate and efficient service. All of our team members participate in PHTA training. In fact, we are among just a handful of Wisconsin service companies to have a Certified Service Professional (CSP) on our service staff. This is the highest level of certification available for the pool & spa service industry.

  • With the help of reliable, trackable technology, we at A-1 Pools have our service procedures down to a science. We use GPS-tracked vans that enable efficient scheduling, recorded arrival and departure times, and safe driving. Every service van is equipped with technology, allowing our service technicians ready access to all necessary job, customer, and parts information as well as relevant equipment manuals to supplement each job as needed. Each van also carries a large inventory of pool and spa parts. With the information and inventory we need close at hand, we strive to get the job done, and done right, in one visit.

  • The inventory at our stores and in our service vans is computer controlled. This means that our most common inventory is ordered before we run out, thus enabling maximum efficiency. Our technicians are able to check inventory at all store locations and in all our service vans at a glance. They can also see inventory on order as well as average lead times.

  • A-1 Pools is an authorized service center for well-known brands of pools, hot tubs, swim spas, and their related equipment. We are fluent in brands including Doughboy Pools, Fox Pools, Bullfrog® Spas, Baja Spas, Premium Leisure Spas, Jacuzzi® Spas, Sundance® Spas, Dynasty Spas®, Hayward® Pool Products, and Pentair Pool Products.

With our many years of experience and extensive training, we can service almost any make and model, so you can spend more time enjoying your pool and/or spa and less time maintaining it.

More Than A Typical

Unlike most pool and spa businesses, we are glad to welcome you as a customer, even if we didn’t  sell you your pool, hot tub, or swim spa.

We are a leading resource for chemicals and maintenance products and services for owners after the sale. We also offer full leak detection and repair, including electronic measurement of water loss, electronic leak detection in vinyl liner pools, listening for leaks in underground plumbing, and underwater repair. Unique to many of our competitors, we can locate leaks and complete the repair, often in one trip, saving you time and money.

  • It's important to keep an eye on your pool to make sure it's in good condition and to catch any issues early on. Signs that your pool may need maintenance include cloudy or discolored water, debris or algae buildup, unusual noises or vibrations from the pool equipment, and reduced water flow or pressure.

  • Generally, it is recommended to drain and refill your hot tub every three to four months, although this can vary depending on usage and other factors. Factors that can influence the frequency of hot tub water changes include the number of people using the hot tub, the frequency of use, the amount of chemicals used, and the overall quality of the water.

  • If you are a busy pool or spa owner who does not have the time, knowledge, or experience to maintain your pool or hot tub regularly, weekly maintenance service may be right for you. This service can save you time and effort while ensuring that your pool is clean, safe, and in good working condition.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • To ensure that your pool is in excellent condition and to detect any problems early on, it is critical to keep a close watch on its structure and connected equipment. There are a few warning signs that indicate that your pool requires maintenance, such as discolored or cloudy water, accumulation of debris or algae, unusual sounds or vibrations emanating from pool equipment, and reduced water flow or pressure.

  • Technically, it it is time to drain and refill your hot tub when the TDS in the water reaches 2,000 ppm (A-1 Pools can test this in our stores). The general recommendation is to change the water in your hot tub every three to four months, but this may vary based on several factors such as usage, the number of people using the hot tub, the quantity of chemicals utilized, and the quality of water. The more you use your hot tub, the more often you will need to drain and refill the tub with fresh, balanced water.

  • If you are a pool or spa owner with a busy schedule, or if you lack the expertise, experience, or time to keep up with weekly maintenance, then weekly maintenance service could be a suitable option for you. This service can help you save time and effort while making sure that your pool or spa is in a clean, safe, and optimal condition. A-1 Pools is a valuable resource when it comes to pool & spa maintenance. We’ve received multiple awards for our customer service, which is due in large part to the training and performance of our well-choreographed service department that oversees the inventory, transportation, and scheduling of all our maintenance equipment and personnel.

  • Connecting your pool to its electrical source requires careful consideration and planning to ensure safety and compliance with local electrical codes. When connecting your pool to electricity, it is important to use a licensed electrician and ensure that all wiring and components are properly grounded and bonded. It is also crucial to install Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) breakers that can detect and prevent electrical shock hazards. It is recommended to test GFCI breakers monthly and after any significant electrical work or weather events to ensure they are working correctly and can interrupt power in the event of a ground fault.

  • There are multiple reasons you may notice a drop in your pool’s water levels. They include heavy usage (i.e., splashing), backwashing, and evaporation due to high temperatures or low humidity. In certain cases, your pool may have a leak in the plumbing or the filtration system, or there may be a hole in the liner. If you suspect a leak, contact our service department, and one of our technicians will help you diagnose and repair a leak if necessary.

  • If your hot tub's water level drops, it may indicate evaporation or a leak somewhere in the system. Evaporation is normal and can cause water levels to decrease slowly over time, but if the drop is sudden or significant, it is more likely to be a leak. It is important to address the issue promptly to prevent further damage and maintain safe and clean water in your hot tub.

  • To keep your pool strong, safe, and performing its best, there are certain maintenance tasks you should perform on a regular basis. These tasks include checking and balancing the water chemistry, cleaning the skimmer and pump baskets, brushing and vacuuming the pool surfaces, inspecting and cleaning the pool filter, and looking out for any signs of wear. It's also essential to maintain and service your pool equipment, such as heaters, pumps, and automatic cleaners, to ensure they are functioning efficiently. Establish a regular maintenance schedule, and you can prevent larger problems from arising.

  • Regular, proactive maintenance can help ensure that your hot tub stays in optimal condition. This includes tasks such as checking and balancing the water chemistry, cleaning the filter cartridges, inspecting and maintaining the cover, and checking for any signs of damage or wear. It is generally recommended to clean the hot tub filter cartridges every 4-8 weeks, depending on usage and the manufacturer's recommendations. Additionally, it is crucial to establish a regular maintenance schedule and stick to it to prevent larger problems from developing.
