How to Get the Most Out of Your Hot Tub in Summer

Even during the hottest months of the year, you can plan to spend a lot of time enjoying your hot tub. It can be a great place to relax after a long day of work or to host friends and family that visit. Here are some ideas to help you get the most out of your hot tub this summer.

Host a Backyard Hot Tub Party

If you host a small backyard party or barbecue, you can invite your guests to enjoy some time in the hot tub. Many people don’t have their own hot tubs and would love the opportunity to spend some time soaking in one during a party. If you already have a swimming pool, adding a hot tub can be a fabulous way to expand on the types of things you can offer party guests to do when they visit your home.

Monitor Water Chemistry Closely

During the summer months, high temperatures, ample sunshine, and rain can cause your hot tub’s water chemistry to become unbalanced. It is a good idea to regularly check its water chemistry, chlorine levels, and temperature to make sure that these measurements are within ideal ranges. Your weekly hot tub service can also verify that each of these levels is correct.

Use Your Hot Tub at Night or in the Early Morning in Summer

If you’re concerned about using your hot tub in the hot weather, there are some strategies that you can use to avoid feeling overheated. You can also plan to use your hot tub at night or in the early morning when it is cooler. You can also turn down the temperature to a level where it’s comfortable.

Unwind After a Run or Long Bike Ride

It can be a good idea to plan on spending some time in the hot tub after a run or a long bike ride. Vigorous exercise without a proper cool down can cause you to feel stiff the next day. Using the warm and comfortable heat of your hot tub after exercising could help you to relax your muscles and avoid some of that stiffness the next day.

Stretch and Exercise in Your Hot Tub

You can also do some simple stretches in the hot tub to loosen up your muscles and joints, using the comforting warmth of your hot tub. There are many different exercises that you can do in the hot tub, including stretching out your chest and back. There are also many seated stretches that you can do while sitting down to benefit from the wellness benefits that hot tubs provide.
